Cult Couture

Here are a few snaps of personal style at last weekend's Cult Couture in Manukau City. The event is going from strength to strength and is truly one place where the cultures of New Zealand collide, nicely...

Penny Loafers

These burgundy loafers are Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony (ordered online for a very reasonable price!) and the socks are from H&M. I love this sweet, preppy school girl look.

All class

I was flicking through my archives of photos and found this one of Simon. Doesn't he look so smart in this suit?

lovelies

Here are a couple of street style shots I took recently.
This is the lovely (and hilarious) Jason Li from Stephen Marr. He has such an effortlessly cool style and always wears cute socks with his rolled up pants.
And, up and coming model Samantha Shorter. She's so pretty and dresses to suit her sweet nature. xx

Huffer After Snaps by David Shields part 2

Huffer After Snaps by David Shields part 1

After the Big Huff at Audi, folks went back to the Not So Little Huffer after party at The Longroom in Ponsonby and rarked up a storm thanks to Steinlager Pure and Kim Crawford wines. David Shields captured the moment...and ubiquitous pukana! More images later...

Noukie

This is my sister Anouk. I thought she looked particularly stylish this morning - boyish and casual and suitably bookish on her way to her university law lecture.

ANZFW 09 - On site Day 3

We'd planned to shoot some style pics in the crowd at Stolen Girlfriends last night but a sudden downpour just prior to doors opening meant everyone was wet and jammed in a holding room downstairs, but we did get a few pics during the day...

New New York Niceness!

Ok, we know it's fashion week here in NZ but these pics just came in from our good buddy Sam Crawford in New York who has been out and about on the streets of the Big Apple to pick 'em up for The Black Eye. Enjoy...

ANZFW 09 - Zambesi

Zambesi took us to the most unlikely of places last night. Sky City Theatre. And that's what we love and appreciate about Zambesi. In the venerable label's thirtieth year we were treated, on an expansive stage, to a classic Zambesi range on a grand scale. Unaware of what was about to unfold inside, fashionistas, media and a healthy sprinkling of loyal friends and customers of the brand mingled in the foyer. Here's the pre-show snaps...

Air NZ Fashion Week Day 1 - Part 1

Air NZ Fashion Week is upon us so expect to see a bunch of posts here on The Black Eye and on Blacklog over the coming week. We'll be looking for personal style that catches our eye here on The Black Eye - both on and off site. Here's the first afternoon's images from on-site.

Andre of House of EZIS has endeared himself to us already. The Brisbane-based designer recognises that his quality tailoring and sharp designs have a real future here in NZ. One to watch at this weeks New Gen show.

Clyne Models Marama Nichols is always immaculately turned out but we loved his decision to front up for a day at Fashion Week in a simple, sharp Workshop suit. His wife wondered if he looked like an undertaker but we beg to differ.

The youngest of New Zealand Fashion Weeks family dynasty, Harley Stewart is every bit as stylish - and replete with her own briefcase - resoundingly cute!

We loved the way these two looked together. Even their hair was in unison...

We liked the cute casualness of fashion editor Jenny Cook's rolled up jeans and Alexandre Herchcovitch shoes...

Hello!

We have been a bit slack here on The Black Eye lately as there just haven't been enough minutes in the day to edit/produce/create Black Magazine and keep the blogs rolling solidly. Thus we have asked Jordan Rondel, whom we think has great personal style to become a blog author for Black and she will be posting images here and over on Blacklog from next week. She will be keeping an eye out for the stylish at Air New Zealand Fashion Week and beyond. In the meantime here is a pic of 62 model Derya looking great in a Kristine Crabb coat...see you real soon.

Auckland - A half hour down Ponsonby Road

We grabbed the Sony Alpha A700 when we stopped in along Ponsonby road today and found Margot the maven of MADE & The Storeroom (above) in Brown Street. We loved her bright and bubbly look in overcast skies. Further down the road at Miss Crabb, Katie looked cosy in her Miss Crabb ensemble.

As well as stocking and managing some cool brands at BlackBox and Emma Cruikshank's Public Library, the people that work there are pretty cool too. Emma (top), Brian (middle) and pensive Jay (bottom) always look great at work.

Melbourne - Nadia Sliwka in Fitzroy 1

Melbourne has long been one of the world's most stylish cities, a fashionable metropolis evenly populated by expressive individuals - and here's further proof. Nadia Sliwka captured a fine selection in the city's Bohemian enclave Fitzroy which we will feature over the next couple of posts.

Auckland - NEW Zealanders

We thought these two looked good together and asked where they were from. "We live here" they said or at least they do now. The guy on the left is originally from South Africa and the guy on the right from Brazil...but now they are new New Zealanders. Haere mai!

Auckland - Back On The High Street - De Bretts

We met this lovely man on High Street yesterday and thought he looked smart in his uniform. Turns out he is the concierge at the newly recreated De Bretts Boutique hotel. He invited us to pop in for a look next time we were coming past. So professional!
